If you choose to use a SAIL address, you must notify Companies House by submitting the form. You must also submit a form, which serves to inform Companies House of the types of statutory records that are to be held at your SAIL address. In addition to notifying Companies House, you must include your SAIL address in your annual confirmation statement, together with the details of the statutory records held at this address.
If you later decide to move any of your records back to your private company's registered office address, you must submit another form to Companies House. You may wish to change your SAIL address if you move your company out of your family home.
The benefits of using a SAIL address from us - if you run your limited company from the comfort of your own home and you have listed your home address as your registered office address, Companies House inspectors and members of the general public may visit you there to inspect your statutory records.
If you run a private company, you must make your company's records available for at least two hours a day between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm on working days only, while if you run a public company, you must make your company's records available for at least 8 hours a day between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm on working days only.
If someone wishes to view your records, they must provide you with notice of the date and time they intend to visit for the inspection. Depending on the nature of their visit, you may be entitled to receive at least two working days' notice. If you are worried about the prospect of an inspector turning up at your home address, a SAIL address will prevent such inspection requests from disrupting your family life.
