This CIOReg Complete™ package is designed for new and existing CIOs that require professional support beyond the initial registration stage. For a new CIO, the package combines CIO establishment and Charity Commission registration support with continuing annual reporting coordination. For an existing CIO, the package provides a structured route for reviewing, preparing and coordinating the applicable annual reporting cycle.

For a new CIO, the package can accommodate a Foundation CIO or Association CIO, according to the structure you have selected, together with the applicable trustee and membership arrangements. You can provide your proposed CIO name, charitable purposes, trustees, members where applicable and relevant organisational information as part of the establishment and registration-support process, within the agreed scope.

The package combines the initial CIO establishment and registration stage with continuing annual reporting coordination. Following successful registration, the applicable digital CIO registration documentation will be provided to you electronically, together with coordination of the purchased annual reporting cycle.

About the CIO establishment and annual reporting procedure

For a new CIO, we will prepare and coordinate the CIO registration using the information, charitable purposes and structure provided through the CIO establishment and registration-support application. You select whether you intend to establish a Foundation CIO or Association CIO and provide the relevant trustees and members where applicable.

You can provide your proposed CIO name, details of the trustees, members where applicable, proposed charitable purposes and other relevant organisational information through our online application process. The information required will depend on the CIO structure selected and the circumstances of the organisation.

Your new CIO application will be reviewed by an experienced member of the Coddan team before the registration application is submitted. We check the information provided for obvious omissions, inconsistencies and errors and can contact you if clarification or additional information is required within the agreed registration-support scope.

Coddan provides professional preparation and support for the Charity Commission registration process within the agreed scope. This can include preparation and review of relevant registration information and supporting documentation, administrative coordination and professional support with the registration submission.

Following successful registration, the service continues into the purchased annual reporting cycle. Coddan can coordinate the relevant Charity Commission reporting process, including reviewing the applicable annual reporting requirements, preparing or coordinating the required information, supporting the submission process and identifying the next relevant reporting deadline within the agreed service cycle.

For an existing CIO, the service can begin with a review of the organisation's current position and applicable annual reporting requirements. Coddan can then assist with preparing the relevant annual information, coordinating the Charity Commission submission and confirming the next reporting milestone within the purchased annual cycle.

You can keep your existing accountant and other professional advisers. CIOReg Complete™ is not intended to replace bookkeeping, accountancy, tax advice, independent examination, audit or other specialist professional services. Where appropriate, Coddan can coordinate the Charity Commission reporting cycle with information supplied by your existing professional advisers.

This package is intended for organisations that want a more continuous relationship with their CIO registration and annual reporting process. It does not include substantive legal advice on complex charity-law matters, complex constitutional restructuring, specialist tax advice, bookkeeping, audit, independent examination or other professional work outside the agreed registration and reporting coordination scope.

CIO registration timeframes are not guaranteed and depend on the circumstances of the application and the Charity Commission's processing.

Following successful registration, Coddan continues with the purchased annual reporting cycle. We coordinate the applicable reporting requirements and help identify the next relevant reporting deadline within the agreed service scope.

Existing CIO: Review → Prepare annual information → Submit → Confirm reporting cycle → Identify next deadline.

For an existing CIO, Coddan can review the relevant annual reporting requirements, coordinate preparation of the required information and support the applicable Charity Commission submission within the agreed scope. The service is designed to help maintain continuity rather than treating annual reporting as a one-off registration exercise.

For organisations establishing a CIO in England and Wales, the relevant regulator is the Charity Commission for England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have different charity regulatory frameworks and routes. CIO registration and Charity Commission reporting remain subject to the requirements and independent decisions of the relevant regulator.

Registration and annual reporting are part of the CIO's continuing operating lifecycle. CIOReg Complete™ provides coordination support for the purchased annual cycle but does not transfer the CIO's legal or governance responsibilities to Coddan.

About identity verification and compliance requirements

As an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) and Trust and Corporate Service Provider (TCSP), Coddan must comply with applicable identity-verification and customer due diligence requirements when providing CIO establishment and related corporate services. The applicable verification requirements depend on the people involved in the organisation and their circumstances.

For a new CIO, trustees and other relevant individuals may have applicable identity or due-diligence requirements depending on the circumstances of the CIO and the services being provided. UK and overseas applicants can use available verification routes where eligible.

Where Coddan carries out or supports the applicable verification process, you will receive instructions from our compliance team regarding the identification documents and information required. Depending on the verification route and your circumstances, this may include identity-document information and other verification information requested through the applicable secure process.

Completion of any required verification is an important part of the establishment process. Delays in providing the required information or completing the applicable verification process may result in a delay to the registration-support service.

Identity verification and customer due-diligence requirements are separate from the Charity Commission's assessment of the CIO. Completion of any required verification does not guarantee CIO registration.

For an existing CIO using the annual reporting pathway, the applicable identity and due-diligence requirements will depend on the circumstances of the organisation and the services being provided.
