Companies House has confirmed that several of its key online services remain unavailable following a technical issue affecting one of its core systems, causing significant disruption for businesses, accountants and company directors across the UK.

The UK's business landscape is set for a change, as Companies House has announced an increase in several key fees, effective from 1 February 2026. The adjustments to charges for services like company formation and the filing of annual confirmation statements are being introduced to fund a significant modernisation drive and bolster the fight against economic crime.

Starting from the 18th of November 2025, Directors of Limited Companies, Members of Partnerships and Individuals with Significant Control over UK businesses (PSCs) will be mandated by law to verify their identity for Companies House. This new requirement is part of Companies House’s digital transformation process, aimed at creating a more trusted and transparent business environment and also combat fraud.
