Costs of starting a business on eBay: eBay does have some unwanted seller fees. Those who have a merchant account must pay a fee to list their items and pay another fee to reflect the price of those items. Other auction sites don't have these fees, but remember, other auctions sites don't have eBay’s reputation. The site charges a minimum of 10p in order to list a random item.
If the price of the item exceeds £500, then a seller should look towards paying £4 as fee. There are also final fees that are added if the auctioned item has been sold without any glitches. Those worth under £25 are calculated a fee of 8.75%, while the ones above £25 and under £1,000 are applied a fee of only 3.5% with an added fee of 1.5% for the closing value.
A seller must take into account various other fees such as promotions, i.e. £5 for highlighting the auction or 50p for incorporating a subtitle. Some may even opt for listing in a secondary category, which in turn, must be added another fee. Don't be discouraged by these fees as long as you have a well-organized business capable of keeping up with sales and making profit.
Remember that all your items can be found in one place, and that itself, is an opportunity that cannot be missed. Many people around the world rely only on their eBay business, pay taxes and enjoy a less stressful life.
