Efficient and Prompt Removal of Personal Details from Companies House — SR01

Section 1088 Address Suppression

Section 1088 Address Suppression and Form SR01 Filing Assistance

Want help removing personal details from eligible Companies House documents? Tell Coddan which details concern you, the company or LLP involved and any earlier application. We review the relevant filings, assess apparent eligibility, prepare the agreed SR01 application and coordinate submission. You check the information before it is submitted; Companies House decides the outcome.

Personal help with your SR01 application

Ask Coddan by telephone or email during working hours about the information needed, preparation, application queries and next steps. The agreed service provides a point of coordination; additional address changes or other work are discussed separately.

Coddan’s professional fee is £48.99 + VAT, with the £34 Companies House fee for each listed document charged separately. See the cost examples and additional-service scope before ordering.

Practical help with personal-details removal

Proportionate preparation

Explain the result you want without identifying every affected document yourself. Coddan reviews the agreed filing history, checks apparent eligibility and identifies relevant address changes. Straightforward requests can use the listed service; wider reviews or different procedures have their scope and charges agreed before further work.

Useful work, clear costs

The service covers agreed review, application preparation, continuation pages, payment-reference and submission checks, and follow-up on application queries. You can see what the professional work provides alongside the separate statutory charge. An additional address service is chosen when needed, rather than added automatically.

Easy to start

Use the current online order form for a suitable instruction, or ask us first if you are unsure. Have the company name and number, the personal details causing concern and any Companies House correspondence available. Agree with Coddan how to supply personal application information and documents.

Arrange the appropriate next step

An existing registered office, SAIL or service address may need attention before suppression can proceed. Coddan can coordinate separately instructed address work alongside the application. If the issue involves credit-reference-agency protection or unauthorised address use, we help identify the appropriate next step rather than assume SR01 resolves everything.

A listed company formation agent

Coddan CPM Limited E-Quick Package appears on the Companies House electronic-formation agents list. For this existing-records service, Coddan’s work is reviewing the relevant information, preparing the agreed application and coordinating submission. The formation listing concerns electronic incorporation capability; Companies House assesses the SR01 request separately.

HMRC-supervised TCSP and registered ACSP

Coddan CPM Limited is an HMRC-supervised trust or company service provider and a Companies House-registered Authorised Corporate Service Provider. Those roles are distinct from the SR01 decision. AML customer checks and Companies House identity verification are separate processes; these statuses do not guarantee suppression or constitute government endorsement.

SR01 concerns eligible details on the Companies House public register. It does not automatically remove copies held by search engines or other organisations. You can also apply directly using the official form and instructions; Coddan’s professional assistance is optional.

Your application and related address work, through Coddan

Discuss the application, any address changes needed first or an earlier Companies House response. We confirm the work we can accept, charges and any relevant service period. A written service agreement, engagement letter or service schedule is available as applicable. Related services have their own agreed scope.

Email info@coddan.co.uk or telephone 020 7935 5171 during working hours. An enquiry creates no obligation to order. Agree the handling of personal application information before sending it.

Section 1088 Address Suppression

Section 1088 Address Suppression and Form SR01 Filing Assistance

Protect your residential privacy with a professionally managed Companies House address-suppression application.

If your home address appears in eligible documents on the Companies House public register, you may be able to apply for its removal under Section 1088 of the Companies Act 2006. Form SR01 provides an individual application route for requesting the removal of eligible personal details, including a residential address, from the public register.

Coddan CPM Ltd offers a managed Form SR01 service for individuals who want professional assistance identifying affected filings, assessing apparent eligibility, preparing the application and coordinating submission under the current Companies House procedure.

Clear professional fee. Statutory charges shown separately.

Our professional fee is £48.99 + Value Added Tax (VAT), with the Companies House statutory document fees charged separately. If a registered-office or director service-address change is needed, we can discuss the appropriate address service as a separate option.

1

Review affected filings

Review relevant Companies House filing history and identify documents containing the address.

2

Assess apparent eligibility

Identify potential application issues and any address changes that may be required first.

3

Prepare Form SR01

Prepare the application and required continuation pages using the information provided.

4

Coordinate submission

Check the payment reference and submission requirements, then follow up on application queries and communicate the outcome.

For straightforward cases, use the order route. If you are unsure which documents are affected or whether a replacement address is required, contact Coddan for an initial assessment. Address suppression is subject to the statutory rules and Companies House assessment. The service does not guarantee acceptance or remove personal information from every public or third-party record.

The legal framework

What Section 1088 of the Companies Act 2006 means

Section 1088 of the Companies Act 2006 provides the legal basis for regulations allowing Companies House to restrict public inspection or disclosure of certain information relating to individuals. The relevant framework includes the Companies (Disclosure of Address) Regulations 2009, as amended.

Form SR01 is used by an individual to request the removal of specified personal details from eligible documents on the Companies House public register. The current official guidance covers residential addresses and, in qualifying circumstances, certain other personal information.

The purpose is to reduce the public exposure of eligible personal details while preserving the statutory functions of the company register. Address suppression does not mean that Companies House must erase every record of an individual or that all information held by public authorities becomes inaccessible.

What can the application achieve?

Depending on the documents, the information involved and the applicable rules, an application may seek removal of:

  • A home address, or an eligible part of it.
  • A signature appearing on an eligible document.
  • The day of the month in a date of birth on documents filed before 10 October 2015.
  • A business occupation where its disclosure was required on the relevant filing.

Not every document or every item of personal information is eligible. Companies House publishes a list of documents that may be considered for suppression, and the applicant must identify the affected filings correctly.

Important distinction: Section 1088 is the statutory framework; Form SR01 is the application route relevant to the individual seeking suppression. Other situations, including applications made by a company or requests involving serious safety risks, may be subject to different procedures.

Eligibility and scope

Which personal details and documents may qualify for Form SR01?

The first step is to identify precisely where the address or other personal detail appears. A company’s filing history may contain several documents showing the same residential address, and each eligible document must be identified in the application.

Examples may include an incorporation filing, a director appointment or change-of-details filing, or another document included in Companies House’s current list of eligible documents. These are examples only; the presence of a document in the filing history does not automatically establish that every detail within it can be removed.

Historical residential addresses

You may be able to apply to remove a home address from historical filings, including an address previously used as a registered office. Changing an address today does not necessarily resolve earlier public disclosures.

Current service or correspondence addresses

A director’s service address is used for relevant official correspondence and displayed on the public register. If you are a serving officer and the home address is your current service or correspondence address, the SR01 application must include a replacement address.

Other personal information

Form SR01 can cover eligible signatures, business occupations and the day component of qualifying historic dates of birth. The official guidance contains exclusions and specific conditions.

Identify the original filing.

For a home address previously used as the company’s registered office, the application must identify the original filing that introduced the home address as the registered office. Listing only the later filing that changed the registered office can result in rejection.

The rules differ where you no longer hold the relevant position or the company has been dissolved. A replacement service address is not automatically required in every SR01 case.

The safest approach is to establish the precise documents, dates and details involved before calculating the statutory fee or preparing the application.

Address requirements

When must the registered office, single alternative inspection location (SAIL) or service address change?

An address-suppression application may require an address change before the application can be completed. The correct action depends on how the residential address is recorded and whether it remains in active use.

Registered office

If the home address you want to suppress is still the company's registered office, the registered office must be changed before completing Form SR01. If the company has been dissolved, the official guidance requires a six-month waiting period before applying to remove an address that was used as its registered office.

Single alternative inspection location (SAIL)

If the home address is also recorded as the company's SAIL, that SAIL address must be changed before completing the SR01 application. Check the current official completion guidance before submission.

Director or other relevant officer's service address

If you are a current serving officer and the home address is your current service or correspondence address, you must provide a replacement service address in the SR01 application. A professional service address can help separate personal residential details from public corporate correspondence.

These addresses serve different legal and administrative purposes. A registered office is the company's official registered address; a director's service address is used for correspondence with that individual; and a SAIL is a location where specified company records are available for inspection.

Changing one address does not necessarily change the others. Where address changes are required, they should be identified and coordinated before the suppression application is completed.

Coddan can discuss the relevant address arrangements as separate services, subject to confirming the appropriate service and price:

From review to submission

How the Form SR01 application works

The application must be prepared against the current official form and guidance. Errors in the document details, fee payment or address information can lead to rejection.

You can apply directly to Companies House using the official SR01 form and instructions. Coddan’s professional assistance is optional; the statutory application fee remains payable whichever route you use.

  1. Review the Companies House filing historyIdentify the company or relevant registered entity, locate the filing history and review the documents that contain the residential address or other personal information. The scope of the review should be agreed with the applicant, particularly where several companies or many historical filings are involved.
  2. Assess eligibility and address requirementsCheck whether the relevant documents appear on the current eligible-document list, whether the information can be removed, and whether the registered office or SAIL must first be changed. Confirm whether a replacement service address is needed.
  3. Prepare Form SR01 and continuation pagesRecord the applicant's details, the information to be removed, the address information where relevant, and the details of each document. For a home address previously used as a registered office, identify the original filing that introduced it. The applicant should check the information for accuracy before submission.
  4. Check the statutory fee and payment referenceThe fee is currently £34 for each document listed. The correct total must be paid using the official payment procedure, and the resulting payment reference must accompany the application. An incorrect payment or missing reference can lead to rejection.
  5. Submit using the current official procedureUnder the current published SR01 instructions, the completed application and payment reference can be emailed to dsr@companieshouse.gov.uk. Companies House also provides a postal route. Check the applicable form instructions before submission because payment and delivery requirements must be followed precisely.
  6. Follow up and communicate the outcomeMonitor the application correspondence, help address queries within the agreed service scope and communicate the result to the customer. Any further work arising from a rejection or a request for additional information should be assessed against the original scope and any additional charges agreed.

What should you prepare before ordering?

To help establish the scope of the work, be ready to provide:

  • The name and details of the individual seeking suppression.
  • The relevant company name and company number, where applicable.
  • The residential address or personal details to be removed.
  • The affected document types and registration dates, if already identified.
  • Details of any current registered-office, SAIL or service-address arrangements.
  • Any correspondence already received from Companies House about the address or a previous application.

Coddan can help identify the relevant filings as part of the agreed review. You supply accurate personal and company information, explain the result you want and check the prepared application before submission. If you are arranging help for someone else, identify the applicant and your authority to instruct and receive updates; paying for the service does not itself give that authority. Agree how personal application details and documents will be supplied before sending them.

Professional assistance

Coddan's managed address-suppression service

Form SR01 is an individual application. Professional assistance can make the administrative work easier to manage, particularly when an address appears in multiple filings or a registered-office change must be coordinated first.

Tell us which personal details concern you, the company or LLP involved and any earlier application or Companies House correspondence. You do not need to diagnose the procedure or find every affected filing before asking. Coddan helps establish the appropriate work, prepares the agreed application and keeps the next step clear.

What is included in the £48.99 + VAT professional fee?

Filing-history review

Review relevant Companies House records to identify documents containing the address or other personal details within the agreed scope.

Eligibility assessment

Assess apparent eligibility and flag potential issues, exclusions or prerequisite address changes.

Application preparation

Prepare Form SR01 and any required continuation pages using the information supplied and the official requirements.

Payment and submission checks

Check the document list and statutory-fee calculation, coordinate the payment reference and prepare the submission in accordance with the current procedure.

Application coordination

Submit the application through the agreed process, follow up on queries and communicate the outcome.

The service is intended to reduce avoidable administrative errors and provide a single point of coordination. Companies House remains responsible for determining whether the application satisfies the applicable requirements and whether the requested suppression can be granted.

Careful preparation for your application

Coddan checks the affected filings, the personal information involved and any address changes needed first. We prepare the agreed form and continuation pages against those facts, so the request identifies the relevant documents. You check the information and approve the application before the agreed submission.

Review, outcome and your next step

The agreed service includes submission checks, follow-up on application queries and communication of the outcome. Companies House decides what can be suppressed. Read its response against the application: further clarification, a corrected application or separate work may remain. Ask Coddan about the response before assuming that every record or third-party copy has changed.

Before work proceeds, agree the applicant, relevant company or LLP, documents to be reviewed, accepted preparation and submission work, charges and Coddan contact. A written service agreement, engagement letter or service schedule is available as applicable to record the selected work. An enquiry does not commit you to ordering or include unlimited review.

What happens if an address change is needed?

Where the case requires a registered-office change, SAIL change or replacement service address, Coddan can discuss the relevant service and coordinate the work if separately instructed.

Those services are not automatically included in the £48.99 + VAT SR01 professional fee. Their scope, fees and timing should be confirmed before the additional work begins.

Similarly, if the filing history reveals more documents than expected, a separate issue with an earlier filing, or a situation that calls for a different legal or administrative procedure, the next step should be agreed with the customer rather than assumed to be included.

What the service does not promise

The service does not guarantee acceptance, suppression of every document, a fixed processing time or removal from external websites. It also does not replace the applicant's responsibility to provide accurate information, review the application and satisfy any personal requirements that cannot be completed by an agent.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove my home address from Companies House?

Potentially, yes. You may apply to remove an eligible home address from documents covered by the current SR01 rules. Eligibility depends on the document, the information shown and any applicable address-change requirements. Companies House determines the application outcome.

Does Form SR01 apply only to directors?

No. The application is made by an individual, but the eligibility of the information and documents must be checked against the official rules. Do not assume that directors, company secretaries, subscribers, members, people with significant control and charity trustees all qualify in the same way or can use the same process for every record.

Can I remove an address that was previously used as a registered office?

Yes, an eligible former registered-office address may be considered for suppression. You must identify the original filing that introduced the home address as the registered office. If the address remains the current registered office, it must be changed before completing SR01. Where the company has been dissolved, the official guidance specifies a six-month waiting period.

Do I need a replacement service address?

Only in the circumstances specified by the rules. If you are a current serving officer and the home address is your current service or correspondence address, you must provide a replacement service address. You do not need to complete that replacement-address section if you are no longer a serving officer or the company is dissolved.

Must I change the SAIL address first?

If the home address you want to suppress is also the company's SAIL, the official SR01 completion guidance says you must change the SAIL address before completing the application. A SAIL is distinct from both the registered office and an individual's service address.

How much does Form SR01 cost through Coddan?

Coddan's agreed professional fee is £48.99 + VAT. The current Companies House statutory fee is £34 for each document listed in the application. Optional address services and separate credit-reference-agency protection are additional and must be quoted separately.

Can I apply to remove several documents in one application?

The form allows you to list multiple documents, including on continuation pages. The statutory fee applies to each document listed. Each document must be identified correctly, and it must be eligible under the current rules.

Do I need to sign Form SR01?

The current official instructions require the applicant to enter their printed name in the authentication section; a signature is not required there. Check the current form and guidance before submission.

How long does Companies House take to process the application?

Processing time can vary. Companies House aims to process applications without delay, but Coddan cannot promise a fixed turnaround. An application that requires clarification or is rejected may take longer to resolve.

Will the address disappear from Google and other websites?

Not automatically. Suppression concerns eligible information on the Companies House register and documents covered by the decision. Search engines, archived copies and third-party databases may retain information obtained previously. Separate removal requests may be needed.

Does SR01 also protect my address from credit reference agencies?

No. Suppression from the public register and protection from credit reference agencies are separate procedures with different eligibility requirements and fees. If you believe you qualify for both, assess each route independently.

What if Companies House rejects my application?

The reason for rejection should be reviewed against the official instructions and the submitted documents. Coddan's agreed service includes follow-up on application queries and communication of the outcome. Corrective work, a new application or additional document fees may be required depending on the circumstances; any additional professional charges should be agreed before that work proceeds.

Take the next step with Coddan

Removing an eligible residential address from the Companies House public register begins with understanding where the address appears, which documents can be considered for suppression and whether an address change is required first.

Coddan can help you assess the filing history, prepare the Form SR01 application and coordinate the submission process. Where the case requires a replacement registered office, service address or SAIL, the additional work can be discussed separately.

Ready to proceed with Form SR01?

For a straightforward case where you know which address you want to suppress, start the order process. The professional fee is £48.99 + VAT, with statutory document fees charged separately.

Need your circumstances assessed first?

If you are unsure which filings contain your address, whether your registered office or SAIL needs changing, or whether a different procedure applies, request an assessment before ordering. Start with the company name and number and a brief description of the issue. Coddan can explain the information and agreed review needed; you do not need to send full personal application details in an initial enquiry.
