UK and overseas directors and people with significant control (PSCs) can streamline ID verification for Companies House through suitable preparation, clear instructions and personal help. This guide explains what to provide, your supported checks and Coddan’s professional review and clarification. If you have already verified through an accepted route, tell us whether a code, role or company task still needs attention.

Your personal manager is your contact by email or telephone. They explain what to provide, give instructions, communicate progress and update your order and verification status. Normal manager assistance is included with every verification package; paid priority handling, extended consultation and continuing company support are separate choices.

Identity evidence and confidential codes follow the instructed secure process. Keep them out of your initial enquiry email. Read our privacy information.

The free GOV.UK One Login route remains available where suitable. If Companies House has already accepted your verification, another role or company does not automatically require another check. If all applicable steps are complete, no further service may be needed.

Suitable service choices and clear fees

Each verification package covers one individual; being both a director and PSC does not automatically require two purchases. Compare scope, included assistance and total charges in the one-time verification packages. Suitable services are directly orderable, including the standard UK verification service. Ask about evidence suitability before choosing if needed.

Easy to start from the UK or overseas

After reviewing your order, Coddan creates your Credas case and arranges an email or SMS invitation. You supply accurate personal details and complete your own supported document and liveness checks. Before ordering, ask about your document type, issuing country, camera-equipped device or access needs. Overseas residence alone does not make a case complex.

Clear preparation and fewer unnecessary steps

Prepare your personal details, address history and suitable evidence using the instructions provided. Explain genuine name differences or missing information early. Coddan reviews the results and requests necessary clarification. Clear preparation helps avoid unnecessary repetition. Your manager explains which information is still needed and how to proceed.

Direct help with questions and progress

If an invitation is missing, a photograph is unclear or a check stops, contact your manager with the message or difficulty. We explain the next step and what information needs attention. You can ask which stage remains without first diagnosing the technical problem or placing another verification order.

ACSP verification, professionally reviewed

Coddan CPM Limited is a registered Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP). We review the Credas results and necessary clarification, then submit ACSP confirmation when satisfied. Companies House emails your Personal Code to the address supplied for you. Completing the personal checks alone does not complete every stage.

TCSP support for connected company work

Coddan also provides formation and company administration as an HMRC-supervised trust or company service provider. AML customer checks serve a separate purpose from Companies House identity verification. You can arrange supported incorporation, director-appointment or existing-company work through Coddan, with the selected scope and charges agreed separately.

Your Personal Code and the steps still to complete

Your Companies House Personal Code belongs to you. It may be needed for new-company incorporation or relevant roles and existing-company administration. Coddan can help with supported verification and the related company work, so you can arrange both through us. Code issue, director or PSC role linkage and the underlying filing are distinct. Completing Credas checks alone does not complete every stage; later company work is separately instructed and charged.

Email info@coddan.co.uk with your role, verification position, difficulty, relevant company details and date. For document questions, describe the type and issuing country. We explain suitable work and charges before you decide; an enquiry creates no obligation to order.

Written service agreements, engagement letters or service schedules are available to record selected work, charges and your Coddan contact. If relevant, view the overseas verification packages and ask us to confirm suitable scope and the total before ordering.

Ensuring compliance with Companies House identity verification requirements should facilitate your business rather than hinder it. Coddan CPM offers Expert Identity Verification™ through two professionally managed verification pathways, enabling you to select the solution that aligns best with your specific circumstances and documentation. Our Fast-Track Digital Verification employs secure Identity Document Validation Technology (IDVT) to swiftly and efficiently verify eligible biometric identity documents. Each application is assessed individually, with verification records securely stored in compliance with relevant legal and regulatory obligations. Both verification pathways are crafted to meet Companies House identity verification requirements and facilitate the issuance of an individual’s Companies House personal code, contingent upon successful verification. Buy Now IdentityGuard Pro™ — supported verification from outside the UK. Living overseas and need Companies House identity verification for a director or PSC role? You can arrange the supported Credas process through Coddan without making a special trip to our office. We create your case, send your invitation, review the results and explain any information still needed. You provide suitable evidence and complete your own applicable identity and liveness checks. Your personal manager gives instructions, answers questions and updates you by email or telephone. The service is available for supported overseas documents; suitability depends on the evidence, not simply your nationality or country of residence.

£40.00 payable for one individual. UK VAT is not charged on this eligible overseas service. The price covers the supported verification process, professional review and Coddan’s ACSP confirmation when satisfied. Companies House emails your Personal Code to you; the code belongs to you, including where you have more than one UK company. Being both a director and PSC does not itself require two purchases. Formation, role linkage and company filings are separately instructed. Choose IdentityGuard Pro for straightforward supported verification, or ask about document suitability or existing verification before ordering.

We arrange your Credas invitation, review the information and results, clarify outstanding questions and submit ACSP confirmation when satisfied. Your personal manager helps you understand what is needed and communicates progress by email or telephone. Priority handling is the additional service; ordinary personal-manager assistance and the applicable verification standards are part of every package. You complete your own checks using suitable documents.

Coddan targets processing within one business day where the supported route is suitable, all required information and checks are complete, and no further enquiries arise. This concerns Coddan’s work; Companies House code delivery and the underlying company filing are separate. Choose RapidVerify Pro when this priority service fits your needs. If you are unsure, tell us your relevant date, document type and issuing country before ordering. An enquiry creates no obligation. Company filings remain separately instructed.

Coddan manually examines the document to identify the issue and explains what needs attention within the supported Credas process. We arrange your case, review the results, clarify outstanding information and submit ACSP confirmation when satisfied. Your personal manager gives instructions and progress updates by email or telephone. This is document troubleshooting through Credas, not an independent manual-verification route. Living overseas alone does not make this additional service necessary.

£125.00 payable for one individual. UK VAT is not charged on this eligible overseas service. The additional work is investigation and guidance around document-check problems. It does not make every document acceptable or promise successful verification. Before purchasing after an unsuccessful attempt, describe the document type, issuing country and message received. Do not attach identity evidence to the initial enquiry. Coddan confirms suitable work and charges before you decide; another paid check is not automatically required. Buy Now FlexiVerify Option™ — non-biometric document support for customers abroad. Where your case calls for non-biometric identity documents, Coddan manually reviews them, submits them to Credas and provides further explanations in response to Credas comments where required. Your personal manager explains the evidence needed, coordinates questions and keeps you informed by email or telephone. We also arrange the supported verification process and review the results before ACSP confirmation. The work remains Credas-supported and does not replace the applicable identity checks. Overseas residence alone is not a reason to buy this package; the document work required determines its suitability.

£220.00 payable for one individual. UK VAT is not charged on this eligible overseas service. The fee includes manual review and submission of non-biometric documents to Credas, plus explanations requested by Credas. Coddan submits its ACSP confirmation when satisfied, and Companies House emails your Personal Code. Ask about your available document types, issuing countries and intended company task before ordering, without sending sensitive evidence in the initial email. We confirm suitability and charges before you decide whether to proceed. Formation, role linkage, company filings, translation and document legalisation are separately instructed.

Start with your present position: do you need identity verification, access to an existing Personal Code, help providing verification details for a director or PSC role, or a separate company filing? A clear starting position helps streamline the work: choose a suitable service, prepare the information needed and avoid unnecessary repeat checks.

Go to preparation and supported checks · scope and charges · roles and requirements · relevant dates · routes, codes and completion.

Verification, remaining tasks and your service choice

Tell us what is already complete

If Companies House has accepted your verification, another company or appointment does not automatically require a new check. A director who is also a PSC may have two role-related actions, but does not automatically need two verification purchases. If every applicable action is complete, no further service may be needed.

You may use the free official route or choose Coddan’s supported service. Suitable published services can be ordered directly; you do not have to purchase a consultation first. Ask about documents, access or the remaining task if you are unsure. Overseas residence alone does not make verification complex.

An enquiry creates no obligation to order. Describe the issue first; identity evidence and confidential codes follow the appropriate instructed secure process.

Identity Verification Bundle™ – Professional Companies House Identity Verification
Complete your Companies House identity verification with confidence through Coddan CPM’s Identity Verification Bundle™. Designed for sole directors, company boards, Persons with Significant Control (PSCs), LLP members, and overseas entrepreneurs, our service provides a secure and professionally managed route to meeting the UK’s identity verification requirements.

Delivered through our regulated Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) framework, the package combines secure Identity Document Validation Technology (IDVT) with experienced compliance professionals who review each application for accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance. Where digital verification is unsuitable, we also offer an expert manual verification pathway for more complex circumstances.

Our verification service supports applications for Companies House identity verification and, following successful verification and processing by Companies House, the issue of an individual’s unique Companies House Personal Code. Throughout the process, we provide practical guidance to help minimise avoidable delays and ensure your supporting documentation is complete and accurate.

Whether you are forming a new UK company, accepting a director appointment, or updating an existing corporate record, our Identity Verification Bundle™ offers a clear, transparent, and professionally managed solution without unnecessary complexity.

With Coddan CPM, you benefit from expert ACSP oversight, secure document handling, and responsive compliance support—helping you meet your Companies House obligations efficiently while strengthening your company’s governance framework. Expert Verification. Trusted ACSP Support. Compliance with Confidence.

One person can hold both director and PSC roles

Verification confirms the individual’s identity. Providing the Personal Code for each required role is a separate step. The director and PSC processes can have different dates and filing routes. Describe which roles and companies are involved so Coddan can identify the supported work and any separate instruction.

Choose and prepare

For ACSP verification, prepare your full and former names, date of birth, home address, address history for the previous 12 months and an accessible email address. Coddan also uses your telephone number for case setup and communication. Give the relevant company details, role, existing verification position and any material date. Explain genuine differences in names or records rather than changing accurate information simply to make it match.

Coddan’s arrangements include passports from supported issuing countries, UK/EU driving licences and supported national identity cards. Proof-of-address arrangements include bank or utility evidence and, for UK cases, council tax documents. These are categories, not universal acceptance promises. Your personal manager explains suitable evidence and the supported device and participation requirements for your case.

Ask before ordering if you are uncertain about a document type, issuing country, language, camera-equipped device or the liveness process. The Companies House verification standard, Credas’s general capabilities and the checks enabled for Coddan’s service are distinct. Sending an additional document does not itself establish an independent manual-verification route.

Personal participation and Coddan’s professional review

Coddan reviews the order, creates the Credas case and arranges an email or SMS invitation. You complete your own supported document and liveness checks. Your manager gives instructions and explains required information. Coddan then reviews the results, identifies outstanding information and asks for necessary clarification. Responding to those questions helps keep the instruction moving. Completing the personal checks is not the same as completing the professional review.

Confirmation, code issue and remaining actions

When satisfied, Coddan manually submits its verification confirmation through its Companies House ACSP account. Companies House issues the Personal Code to you. Your manager can explain the order and verification status and what remains. Role linkage and the underlying company filing are separate tasks; neither the invitation nor a completed selfie confirms completion of every stage.

Help with common difficulties

  • Glare or unclear photographs: follow the capture instructions, check the lighting and contact your manager with the message or difficulty if capture still fails.
  • Name differences or incomplete details: explain the genuine difference and any relevant name change. Coddan reviews what clarification or supporting information is needed.
  • Missing, doubtful or interrupted invitation: check the contact details and junk folder, then contact Coddan through a known route. A familiar sender name alone does not establish authenticity.
  • Device or accessibility difficulty: ask which participation arrangements are supported before ordering. Assistance with instructions does not permit another person to impersonate you in the checks.

An interrupted check, unsuitable document, outstanding review and a later company-record problem are different issues. Do not buy again merely because a check stops. Ask which stage remains, the supported next step and whether any further charge is proposed. Read guidance on unresolved verification issues.

For a document-suitability question, describe the document type and issuing country in an enquiry to info@coddan.co.uk. Do not attach identity evidence or send confidential codes through the initial enquiry.

Choose suitable scope and clear charges

Count individuals, not appointments

Each verification package covers one individual director or PSC. Count the people who still need verification, not the number of companies or roles. Accepted existing verification may mean that only a code, role-linkage or company filing task remains. A previous difficulty, dual role or overseas address does not automatically determine a new purchase.

Compare the selected service, fee per person, applicable VAT, options and total payable. Suitable published services remain directly orderable, including the standard UK verification service. Confirm included follow-up, any possible further charges and separately instructed company work. Normal personal-manager assistance is distinct from paid priority, extended consultation and continuing support.

Verification for several people or professional clients

Discounted quotations are available for several individuals and for professional intermediaries arranging verification for clients. Request professional and discounted fees or email info@coddan.co.uk before ordering. Give the organisation’s name and legal structure, number of distinct people, existing verification position, relevant dates and assistance requested. Intermediaries should also name their firm and say whether one client organisation or several are involved.

Coddan confirms suitable work and discounted charges before you decide; an enquiry creates no obligation. Identify the instructing party, individuals, payer and proposed communication contacts. Agree who may receive progress information: arranging or paying for a check does not automatically give access to another person’s evidence or code.

Coddan does not charge UK VAT to overseas clients for their ID-verification service. Provide the contracting customer’s details so the quotation records the appropriate treatment. Nationality alone does not identify the recipient or the instructed scope. Separately instructed company work has its own charges and tax treatment.

If you are both a director and PSC, one accepted identity verification can support both roles. The required code submissions remain separate. Holding appointments in several companies does not itself create an annual verification requirement. Tell us the actual event or difficulty so we can establish the supported instruction.

A discrepancy in personal details, a failed document capture, an unsuccessful assessment and missing role-linkage information need different attention. Coddan reviews supplied information and results and clarifies outstanding questions within the accepted scope. This does not promise recovery, automatic correction or a bypass of Companies House standards.

Dual-Role Compliance Service. Supporting Individuals Who Are Both Directors and PSCs

Many company officers occupy more than one statutory role within the same organisation.

Where an individual acts as both a director and a Person with Significant Control, separate compliance obligations may arise at different stages of the company’s filing cycle.

Our Dual-Role Compliance Service helps coordinate these obligations by reviewing your Companies House records, monitoring relevant filing events, and supporting the correct alignment of identity verification with your statutory responsibilities.

This helps reduce the risk of unnecessary delays, inconsistent records, or missed compliance actions.

Verification Recovery Service. Professional Support Following Identity Verification Difficulties

Identity verification does not always proceed smoothly.

Differences in personal information, historic company records, overseas documentation, or digital verification issues can interrupt the process and delay corporate filings.

Our Verification Recovery Service provides structured assistance where previous verification attempts have been unsuccessful.

Your dedicated compliance specialist will:

  • Review the circumstances surrounding the previous verification attempt
  • Identify inconsistencies within company or identity records
  • Recommend appropriate corrective actions
  • Coordinate a compliant resubmission where required
  • Support ongoing communication throughout the verification process

The objective is to resolve the underlying issue rather than simply repeating the same application.

Identity Record Management. Helping You Maintain Consistent Corporate Records

Once identity verification has been completed, maintaining consistency across future filings becomes equally important.

Our Identity Record Management service helps clients organise and maintain the information required for future Companies House submissions.

We assist with:

  • Maintaining accurate verification records
  • Supporting future director appointments
  • Coordinating PSC updates
  • Preparing Companies House filings
  • Reviewing identity information before submission
  • Maintaining consistent officer records across multiple companies

This administrative support helps reduce the likelihood of discrepancies appearing in future filings.

Enhanced Due Diligence Support. Specialist Compliance for Higher-Risk Verification Profiles

Some individuals require additional verification because of their regulatory profile or the nature of their corporate activities.

This may include:

  • Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs)
  • International corporate groups
  • Overseas directors
  • Complex ownership structures
  • Cross-border corporate reorganisations

Our Enhanced Due Diligence service supports the preparation and review of identity documentation before verification is undertaken.

Where enhanced checks are appropriate, we help ensure supporting documentation is complete, internally consistent, and aligned with applicable compliance requirements.

For separately instructed company work, identify the company, event and person authorised to approve the filing. Professional review, customer approval, submission and official acceptance remain distinct. Verification alone does not complete incorporation, director appointment, PSC details or a confirmation statement.

If you are unsure what remains, describe your position to Coddan before ordering. You do not need to diagnose a specialist product to ask for help.

A service choice should reflect the remaining work, supported evidence and assistance requested. Appropriate professional review applies to straightforward verification as well as particular requirements. A higher price is not proof of better basic verification, and an additional role does not automatically require another identity check.

DirectorShield™ – Dual-Role Verification & Compliance
Designed for directors who are also Persons with Significant Control (PSCs).
Holding both appointments introduces additional governance considerations. Although you verify your identity only once, your verified identity and Companies House Personal Code must be correctly reflected across your corporate appointments and records.

This is where many directors assume that verified automatically means fully compliant. It doesn’t.

DirectorShield™ provides professional ACSP oversight, reviewing your director and PSC records, identifying inconsistencies before submission, and helping ensure your verified identity is accurately associated with your corporate roles.

Why choose DirectorShield™?

  • Expert ACSP identity verification.
  • Manual review of director and PSC records.
  • Guidance on Personal Code administration.
  • Dedicated compliance adviser.
  • Secure, audit-ready verification records.

Verify your dual-role status with DirectorShield™.

VerifyRecover™ – Verification Resolution Service
Designed for applicants whose previous identity verification has been unsuccessful, delayed, or requires further clarification.
If your verification through GOV.UK One Login or another provider has not progressed as expected, simply repeating the same process may not resolve the underlying issue.

VerifyRecover™ begins with a detailed diagnostic review rather than another automatic submission.

Our compliance specialists examine your previous verification attempt, supporting documentation, and existing Companies House records to identify the likely cause of the issue before recommending the most appropriate verification pathway.

Why choose VerifyRecover™?

  • Comprehensive diagnostic assessment.
  • Professionally managed ACSP verification pathway.
  • Support for more complex documentation scenarios.
  • Written resolution report.
  • Dedicated compliance adviser throughout.

Overcome your identity verification issue with VerifyRecover™

Before committing to any additional service, establish its actual scope, customer inputs, useful outcome, price and next action. Ask whether the instruction concerns identity verification, correcting supplied information, providing role details or a separate company filing. Do not assume that all are included in the verification fee.

Coddan can undertake supported new-company formation and existing-company administration alongside a separately accepted verification instruction. You can arrange the relevant work through Coddan without finding another provider for those supported services.

Explain the intended event, relevant company details and date. The instruction should identify required information, customer or director approval, submission authority, charges and the completion point. Identity verification, official code issue, role linkage and the company filing remain distinct.

Beyond Verification: Embracing a Comprehensive Compliance Framework for Directors and PSCs

Unlocking Continuous Compliance: How Our Annual Packages Go Beyond Initial Checks for Your Company

Verification is the start. Staying compliant is the ongoing commitment. Our complete solution packages combine identity verification with a 12-month compliance framework — registered office address, mail management, compliance reminders, role mapping, and a full audit file — all under one annual fee.
For directors and PSCs who want verification handled as part of a wider compliance relationship — rather than as a one-off transaction — the packages below include everything in our verification-only range, plus the ongoing governance infrastructure that keeps your company compliant beyond the initial check. All complete solution packages are priced as an annual fee, covering both the verification itself and the continued support that follows it.

Normal verification assistance includes personal-manager instructions, required-information explanations, progress communication and order/verification status by email or telephone. Paid priority, extended consultation and continuing company support are separate choices. Verification does not automatically enrol you in annual monitoring or another service.

FUnlocking Compliance: The Comprehensive Solution Packages for UK Company Directors

Navigating Compliance Complexity: Tailored Packages for Remote Directors and PSCs

One annual fee. One adviser. Everything your UK company needs to stay compliant. From your initial verification through to confirmation statement reminders, statutory mail handling, and AML-compliant record retention — our complete solution packages keep every obligation in one managed place.
The complete solution packages below are designed for directors and PSCs who need more than a personal code — particularly those managing UK companies remotely, holding roles across multiple entities, or wanting a single, accountable compliance partner rather than coordinating separate services. Choose the package that matches your structure, and your adviser will confirm everything is covered before you proceed.

Written service agreements, engagement letters or service schedules are available to record selected work, charges, your Coddan contact and any applicable period. Agree continuing services and relevant renewal or ending arrangements under the selected service terms. Regulatory record retention is not itself a paid customer subscription or authority for future filings.

For questions about cancellation, refunds, unsuccessful participation, further attempts or additional work, read the applicable service terms and ask Coddan to explain the position before ordering. Different circumstances should not be treated as an automatic repeat purchase.

Companies House identity verification is concerned with the individual holding an applicable role. It does not itself determine who is a PSC, analyse a corporate ownership chain or complete every company-administration obligation. Do not assume that every shareholder, guarantor, secretary, general partner or filer is subject to the same current requirement.

Mandatory verification began on 18 November 2025. The applicable action depends on the role and when it began. New-company registration requires each director’s Personal Code. A new director’s verification details are required for the appointment filing. Existing directors provide their details through the applicable confirmation statement, separately for each company. PSCs have separate code-submission periods, explained in the date guidance below.

Directors of registered overseas companies have a requirement tied to the anniversary of the UK establishment’s registration. This is different from a UK company whose directors live overseas. Limited partnerships, filers and specified corporate roles are subject to later implementation. Check current role-specific Companies House guidance for the actual entity and circumstances.

KYC/AML checks and Companies House verification: what is the difference?

KYC/AML customer due diligence

Coddan obtains and assesses information about its customer, relevant ownership/control, authority and the instructed relationship under its actual due-diligence procedures. This is broader than an identity-document scan. Completing those checks does not itself produce a Companies House Personal Code.

Companies House identity verification

The individual completes supported checks; Coddan reviews the results and clarification, then submits ACSP confirmation when satisfied. Companies House issues the Personal Code. A separate role-linkage or company action may remain.

Some evidence may overlap, but suitability, currency and lawful use must be assessed for each purpose. Earlier AML checks do not automatically establish Companies House verification, and a Personal Code does not complete all due diligence for a new instruction. Tell us what is already done; neither automatic reuse nor two compulsory paid packages follows.

Coddan CPM Limited is a registered ACSP and an HMRC-supervised trust or company service provider. ACSP confirmation responsibilities and AML supervision relate to the relevant work; they do not imply government endorsement or a general legal-advice licence. The wider mandatory ACSP registration requirement for businesses filing for clients is a separate measure. Current Companies House implementation guidance places that measure no earlier than November 2027, with at least six months’ notice.

Does identity verification automatically link all my Companies House roles?

No. Companies House issues your Personal Code after successful verification. Provide it through each applicable director, PSC or other required process; receiving the code alone does not update every appointment.

What is the difference between identity verification and linking my Personal Code?

Verification confirms who you are. Linkage associates that verified identity with the relevant company role through the required Companies House process. The underlying appointment or filing remains a distinct task.

Check the company’s confirmation statement date, the person’s role and when that role began. If you hold appointments in several companies, use the earliest applicable verification-related requirement as a planning point, then complete each required role action. Do not assume that every director or PSC can wait until 18 November 2026.

  • Existing directors: provide the Personal Code through the applicable confirmation statement, separately for each company.
  • Existing PSC who is also a director of the same company: the separate PSC period lasts 14 days starting the day after the confirmation statement date. Filing the statement early does not move that period.
  • Existing PSC who is not that company’s director: the applicable transition period is the first 14 days of the person’s birth month.
  • Person becoming a PSC after 18 November 2025: provide the code when first added to the register or within 14 days of being added. Check the dates shown for the individual on the Companies House register.

These existing-PSC explanations concern people registered before mandatory verification began. Use the official date guidance and register for your own position. Tell your manager any relevant date early; preparation and professional assistance do not guarantee completion before a deadline.

When should existing directors complete Companies House identity verification?

Complete it in time to provide the required details for the company’s applicable confirmation statement. Allow for suitable evidence, personal participation, review and any necessary clarification rather than treating the end of the transition as everyone’s deadline.

What happens if you do not meet an applicable requirement?

Companies House says the applicable confirmation statement cannot be filed until all directors have verified. Failure to meet a requirement can lead to enforcement, including financial penalties or prosecution where the relevant law provides. This does not mean every filing is frozen, every interrupted check is an offence, or bank accounts are automatically frozen.

Late-accounts penalties and confirmation-statement enforcement are different. The automatic £150 starting penalty for late private-company accounts is not a confirmation-statement penalty. Your obligations depend on the applicable role and date; buying verification does not remove filing responsibilities or prevent penalties. Read the official explanation of non-compliance.

Free direct Companies House verification

The official service uses GOV.UK One Login. Depending on eligibility and your answers, it guides you through an app, online security questions, or online preparation followed by a participating Post Office visit. Each method has different evidence requirements. Overseas residence does not itself exclude this route. Read the official route requirements.

Coddan’s Credas-supported service

Choose a suitable published service and order online. Coddan provides case setup, personal-manager instructions, professional review, necessary clarification and ACSP confirmation when satisfied. You participate in your own supported checks. Companies House issues the Personal Code; paid support does not produce a superior code or bypass the official standard. Compare supported services.

What is a Companies House Personal Code?

It is the 11-character code Companies House issues to the verified individual. It belongs to you, not a company or the person paying for the service. Accepted verification normally supports more than one appointment; do not verify again unless Companies House tells you to. Required director and PSC code submissions remain separate.

Your Personal Code and company authentication code are different

The company authentication code is a six-character alphanumeric code associated with the company and used to authorise relevant electronic filings. It does not verify your identity or replace your Personal Code. Some work needs both for different purposes, depending on the filing route. Neither code is the company registration number or a GOV.UK One Login password.

Use official Personal Code access, saving and replacement guidance; request or manage a company authentication code. Keep both within the appropriate secure process; code possession alone does not authorise unrequested company work.

How will I receive my Personal Code?

For the ACSP route, Companies House sends it to the email address supplied for you. Check that the address is correct and accessible. If it has not arrived, contact your manager to establish whether review and confirmation have completed and check the email details. For direct verification, follow the official access instructions for the method used.

What if I cannot find my Personal Code?

Use the official guidance for your verification route. Check the relevant email and, where saved, the Companies House account. If an ACSP supplied an incorrect email address, contact that provider to arrange the correction. A compromised Personal Code and a company authentication code have different replacement procedures; do not send credentials in an ordinary initial enquiry.

Your manager, evidence and privacy

Your personal manager communicates by email or telephone, gives instructions, explains required information and updates order and verification status. Send evidence only through the instructed secure process. Read Coddan’s privacy information and ask about any specific evidence-handling question before sending documents.

ACSPs must retain identity-check records for seven years under the applicable requirements. This does not establish a customer document vault or permission to reuse evidence for unrelated work. Companies House displays a verification statement after the verified identity is connected to its records; that does not mean identity-document images are published. Read the official ACSP process and code-delivery guidance.

What is the biggest Companies House identity verification mistake?

Assuming that completing the personal checks or receiving a code completes every company task. Establish what remains: Coddan’s review, ACSP confirmation, code issue, the relevant role details or the underlying filing. These are different stages and do not all require another paid check.

Describe your role, verification/code position, relevant company details, difficulty, document type and issuing country, and any material date. Coddan confirms suitable work and charges before you decide; an enquiry creates no obligation. If all applicable work is complete, no further service may be needed.
