Buy Now IdentityGuard Pro™ – Standard identity verification before Personal Code issue for £40 + VAT. Coddan reviews the completed result and supporting evidence and, where satisfied and authorised to proceed, manually submits the required identity-verification information through its Companies House ACSP account. Companies House—not Coddan—issues or makes available the Personal Code. The £40 + VAT price is Coddan’s professional charge for the agreed standard verification service; an eligible individual may instead use the free official Companies House route. Completing verification is not the same as receiving the code, providing it for a role or completing the underlying company event. The code must be used through the process described under where the code must be provided. If Coddan’s verification handling is time-sensitive, compare RapidVerify Pro™. |

Buy Now FlexiVerify Option™ – Individually managed complex-evidence support for £220 + VAT. The £220 + VAT price reflects the enhanced individual work included within the agreed complex-evidence scope. If Coddan becomes satisfied that the applicable verification standard has been met and is authorised to proceed, it manually submits the required information through its ACSP account; Companies House separately controls code issue and delivery. This package does not retrieve a missing code, replace a compromised code, correct an inaccurate date of birth, validate an appointment or repair a company filing. Those matters may require Companies House action or separate corrective work. Read how to keep the Personal Code safe and why reusing the same code is not another verification purchase. If flexible evidence assessment is needed without the highest level of support, compare VerifyFlex Solutions™. |
This service may help if you have verified your identity but are unsure how your Personal Code relates to a CLG formation, director appointment, confirmation statement or individual PSC requirement.
We identify the company, the affected role and the process through which the code must be provided.
A person who is both director and PSC normally uses one Personal Code, but must provide it separately for each role.
We can help identify whether the difficulty concerns the code, date of birth, email address, role process or company record.
Companies House gives or makes available an 11-character Personal Code after an individual successfully completes identity verification. The code is personal to the individual—not to the CLG, Coddan or another filing agent.
The individual normally keeps and reuses the same code when it is required for relevant Companies House roles and companies.
The same code may need to be provided more than once because every affected company and director or PSC role is dealt with separately.
It is not the company authentication code, company number, Unique Taxpayer Reference or a charity-regulator identifier.
The code confirms that identity verification has been completed. It does not create an appointment, PSC status or authority for a company.
The individual completes the free Companies House route or an appropriate ACSP route.
Companies House issues or makes the Personal Code available through the process applying to the chosen verification route.
The code and matching personal details are supplied through the relevant director or PSC process.
The formation, appointment, confirmation statement or PSC matter must still be validly prepared and completed.
What “connection” means here: Companies House uses the code and matching personal information to associate the verified individual with the relevant registered or proposed role. It is not a separate legal office or a universal filing form.
Sign in to Companies House using the email address used for verification and check “Manage account”. For verifications completed after 8 July 2026, Companies House also says it sends the code by email. A successful Post Office route also allows the person to view the code through the account.
Companies House sends the code to the email address supplied by the ACSP. The individual may save it to a Companies House account. The ACSP does not create or issue the code.
If an ACSP supplied an incorrect email address, contact the ACSP. It may need to ask Companies House to correct the verification information. Coddan cannot promise independent retrieval, regeneration or replacement of a Personal Code.
The code for each proposed director is provided in the new-company registration filing. The application and all other formation requirements remain separate.
The code is provided through the applicable appointment filing. It does not make, authorise or validate the underlying appointment.
The code is provided through the company’s applicable confirmation-statement process. Each company must be dealt with separately.
The code is provided through the current PSC identity-verification service within the period applying to the individual’s circumstances.
A member, guarantor or charity trustee does not use a Personal Code merely because of that capacity. The requirement arises only where that person also holds an affected Companies House role, such as director or individual PSC.
You normally use the same Personal Code for both capacities, but you must provide it separately through the process applying to each role.
Provide the code through the formation, appointment or confirmation-statement process that applies to the directorship.
Provide the same code separately through the PSC process within the applicable period. The director step does not automatically complete this step.
The role-specific timing may differ. Supplying the code does not decide whether the person is legally a director or PSC.
The individual normally completes identity verification once and keeps the same Personal Code.
Each company and affected role must be addressed through the process that applies to it.
The code and personal information must relate to the person named in that company role.
The code is not authority to act for every company and does not complete other appointments automatically.
Information checked against current Companies House guidance on 19 September 2026. Recheck the official guidance if the relevant event occurs later.
Codes are currently required for proposed directors in new-company registrations, new director appointments, existing directors through the applicable confirmation statement, and individual PSCs through the relevant PSC process.
Mandatory verification began on 18 November 2025, but that date is not a universal deadline. Director timing follows the relevant formation, appointment or confirmation statement. PSC timing depends on the person’s circumstances.
Later requirements announced for people filing, corporate directors and officers of corporate PSCs must not be treated as operational before they are brought into force.
A person who became a PSC after 18 November 2025 may provide the code when first added to the register or within 14 days after being added. An existing PSC who is also a director of the same company has a 14-day period beginning the day after the company’s confirmation-statement date. An existing PSC who is not a director of that company uses the first 14 days of their birth month. The current Companies House register can show the individual period.
An eligible individual may use the free official service. Professional ACSP assistance is not compulsory, and Coddan does not charge for the person’s use of that official route.
Review the free official routeWhere suitable and agreed, Coddan coordinates supported verification and may coordinate the resulting code with separately authorised formation or filing work.
Read the official Personal Code guidanceCoddan CPM Limited is registered with Companies House as an Authorised Corporate Service Provider, also known as a Companies House authorised agent, and is supervised by HMRC for anti-money-laundering purposes.
Coddan is not Companies House. ACSP registration does not constitute official endorsement. Coddan cannot guarantee code delivery, role connection or acceptance of an underlying filing.
Coddan’s client onboarding and anti-money-laundering checks remain distinct from Companies House identity verification.
The code may be supplied to a person properly authorised to file on your behalf, such as an accountant, company secretary or formation agent. That is different from publishing it or treating it as a general company credential.
Only supply the code through an appropriate official process or to a person authorised for the relevant filing.
Contact Companies House. Its current guidance says it can issue a new code by email and cancel the previous one.
A connection problem does not necessarily mean that identity verification must be repeated. The first task is to identify where the mismatch appears.
Check that the code belongs to the named individual, has been entered accurately and is being supplied through the correct director or PSC process.
Companies House says an incorrect date of birth on its records may need to be corrected before the verified identity can be connected.
Where the verifying ACSP supplied an incorrect detail or email address, the individual should contact that ACSP so the position can be reviewed.
An inaccurate filing, disputed appointment or unclear PSC position requires the appropriate correction, official or professional route. The Personal Code does not repair it.
Provide what you know. “Not known” is an acceptable answer and helps Coddan identify what must still be established.
Proposed or registered name, company number and whether the matter concerns formation, appointment, an existing director, PSC status or a confirmation statement.
Full name, date of birth, residential address and whether the person is a director, individual PSC or both, including every affected company.
How verification was completed, the email address used and whether the code was received or can be accessed. Do not provide the code itself here.
Relevant formation, appointment, confirmation-statement or PSC dates and whether an authorised agent will make the related filing.
Any error message and any apparent difference in name, date of birth, email address, company or role information.
State whether the code may have been disclosed or compromised without copying the code into your enquiry.
Do not place your Personal Code in a general website enquiry. Use Coddan’s normal contact details when you are ready to explain the matter.
Providing the code confirms identity verification for the relevant role. It does not replace the legal or company work supporting that role.
Completes verification, keeps the code safe and authorises its proper use for relevant filings.
Its authorised decision-makers control valid appointments, company decisions, records and filing instructions.
Within the agreed scope, we coordinate supported verification and appropriately authorised formation or filing work.
It controls official verification, issue and replacement of Personal Codes, role connection, the register and filing acceptance.
Reusing the same Personal Code does not itself mean buying another verification service. Charges depend on the professional and filing work Coddan is asked to undertake.
Verification and accessWhether verification is complete, how it was completed and whether the code can be accessed.
Companies and rolesThe number of affected companies and whether the person is a director, PSC or both.
Problems and correctionsMismatched details, incorrect email information, inaccurate filings or separately required corrective work.
Separate work and chargesCoddan’s professional charge and VAT, applicable official charges, and agreed formation, appointment, PSC, confirmation-statement, governance or legal work.
It is the 11-character code Companies House gives or makes available to an individual after successful identity verification. It is personal to that individual.
Companies House. An ACSP such as Coddan may conduct and submit supported verification, but it does not create or issue the code.
No. A Personal Code relates to a verified individual. A company authentication code is a separate company filing credential.
Normally, no. You reuse the same personal code, but must provide it through the applicable process for every affected company and role.
No. You normally use the same code, but provide it separately for the director role and the PSC role.
Through the company’s applicable confirmation-statement process. A director of several companies must deal with each company separately.
The 14-day period depends on whether the person became a PSC after 18 November 2025 and whether an existing PSC is also a director. Check the current Companies House record and guidance for the individual period.
Where Coddan is authorised to make the relevant filing and the code is supplied through the agreed process, it may be used for that filing. Do not send it through a general enquiry.
How you access it depends on how you verified. Check your Companies House account and relevant email. If an ACSP verified you, contact it to confirm the email address supplied.
Check that the correct code was entered for the correct person. An incorrect date of birth or other record difference may need to be corrected before connection can succeed.
Contact Companies House. Its current guidance says it can send a replacement code by email and cancel the previous code.
No. The underlying appointment, control position and filing must be valid independently of identity verification and code use.
No. An inaccurate director, PSC or personal-detail record requires the appropriate correction or official process.
Provide the company, individual, roles, relevant dates, verification route and any error or mismatch. Do not include the actual Personal Code in a general enquiry.
The number of companies and roles, whether verification and code access are complete, any mismatch and the formation, filing or corrective work requested all matter.
Tell us which CLG, individual and director or PSC process is involved. We can identify where the code must be used and whether separate formation, filing or corrective work is required.
