Route 1
One Document Is Known
Choose this route where one known eligible document contains the individual's home address and no current registered-office, SAIL or director service-address change is required first.
Choose by the address-record work required
The four packages are not simply four versions of the same SR01 application service. The appropriate route depends upon how the home address appears on the Company Limited by Guarantee's public record, how many documents need to be considered and whether a current public-address position must be corrected first.
Start with what you can currently identify. Coddan can review the information provided, establish the apparent address-record position, identify the appropriate route and prepare or coordinate the work covered by the selected package. Companies House retains responsibility for eligibility, processing and the final suppression decision.
Route 1
Choose this route where one known eligible document contains the individual's home address and no current registered-office, SAIL or director service-address change is required first.
Route 2
Choose this route where the home address is visible but the relevant filing or filings cannot be confidently identified and a focused filing-history audit is required.
Route 3
Choose this route where the historical home address also remains in a current public-address position that must be corrected before historical SR01 suppression can proceed.
Route 4
Choose this route where the address position requires review across multiple documents, potentially with prerequisite current-address filings and broader coordination.
Not sure which route applies? First review the information Coddan reviews before preparing SR01 or examine the distinction between current address changes and historical suppression .
If the address appears across several filings, a current public address requires correction, or the record involves disputed, fraudulent or other non-routine circumstances, the ordinary single-document SR01 route may not be appropriate. Coddan can assess the apparent position and identify whether a broader professional route is required.

£99.00+VATSR01 Ready™ Recommended for 1
package
Buy Now Single-document SR01 route For a professional fee of £65 + VAT, Coddan provides the application preparation, single-document control, applicant approval stage, payment-reference instructions and a copy of the submitted service record. The separate Companies House fee is currently £34 for the one document listed and is not subject to VAT. The package does not include a current-address change, an address subscription, additional documents, disputed filings, identity-theft allegations or a protected-information application based on serious violence or intimidation. If the address appears in more than one filing, the filing-history audit route is more appropriate. Read what Coddan reviews before preparing SR01. If a serving director first needs a replacement public address, use Coddan's separate director service-address service. Acceptance and the extent of public suppression remain decisions for Companies House, and removal from its public record does not guarantee removal from independent archives, search caches or third-party databases. |
£159.00+VATSR01 RecordTrace™ Recommended for 2
package
Buy Now Filing-history audit included For £125 + VAT, this package includes the focused public-record audit, preparation of one SR01 application listing up to three eligible documents, the applicant approval stage and a completed service record. Companies House charges a separate £34 for every document listed; the official total is confirmed after Coddan completes the schedule. The package assumes that the CLG's current registered office and SAIL, and any serving officer's current public service address, are already suitable. It does not include a prerequisite address change, recurring address service, extensive register reconstruction or disputed and fraudulent-filing work. If the address remains current, choose the address-change and suppression route. Review the distinction between current address changes and historical suppression. After completion, Coddan can connect the result to appropriate CLG company-secretarial support where continuing records or correspondence administration is required. |
£229.00+VATSR01 AddressSwitch™ Recommended for 3
package
Buy Now Current address change + SR01 For £195 + VAT, Coddan connects the current-address correction with the historical SR01 application so the Participant is not left to coordinate two separate operations. This is the appropriate current-address and historical-suppression route when one public address must be replaced before the application. The Companies House SR01 fee remains separate at £34 for every document listed. This package includes one current-address filing; a second prerequisite filing, additional SR01 documents, Companies House rejection work or broader record correction requires an agreed extension or a different package. A Coddan registered-office, director service-address or records service is not silently included: any subscription has its own price, service period and renewal basis. Examine the replacement-address work required before SR01. Where the CLG needs an appropriate company address, Coddan's CLG registered-office service provides the connected destination, subject to acceptance and its separate terms. |
£329.00+VATCLG RecordShield Complete™ Recommended for 4
package
Buy Now Complex CLG record route For £295 + VAT, Coddan provides the broadest standard professional scope in this four-package line while preserving the boundaries of the ordinary SR01 procedure. Companies House charges a separate £34 for every document listed. Any Coddan registered-office, director service-address, SAIL or records-custody service is separately identified with its service period and renewal price; substantial statutory-register reconstruction is not automatically included. Additional documents, a non-routine rejection, an address used without authority, identity theft, fraudulent appointment, serious-violence protection, litigation or disputed entitlement require separate assessment and may need another professional destination. Review the CLG-specific address and governance controls. If the company has already been dissolved and must return to the register, use Coddan's separate CLG company restoration support. Companies House retains responsibility for acceptance, processing and the suppression outcome. |
CLG company-secretarial support for an exposed home address
Coddan reviews where your home address appears in a Company Limited by Guarantee’s filing history, identifies the eligible historical documents, coordinates any current-address changes that must come first and prepares the appropriate SR01 application route.
This is not merely a service for changing the address
. A current registered office, SAIL or director service address can be changed without removing the same home address from historical public documents. Coddan connects those separate operations so the present and historical record are dealt with in the right order.
Privacy point: do not place the home address, identity-document details or unredacted filings in an ordinary initial enquiry. Begin with the company number and a short description of where the address appears; Coddan will confirm the appropriate collection route after the service scope has been established.
For a dissolved company that needs to return to the register, use Coddan’s company restoration support. Coddan will identify an appropriate boundary where fraud, a disputed entitlement or litigation requires Companies House, legal or other specialist action.
A director’s usual residential address is not ordinarily shown on the public register when it has been supplied correctly in the confidential residential-address field. SR01 becomes relevant when the home address or part of it is present in an eligible publicly available document. Coddan’s first task is to establish which of those positions actually applies.
The work Coddan takes forward
Initially, the CLG’s company number and a non-sensitive description of the problem. After Coddan confirms the collection route, the individual provides the home address concerned, their details, known affected filings, relevant Companies House correspondence and the preferred replacement-address arrangement.
The filing history, how the address entered the public record, the individual’s apparent eligibility, affected documents, the original filing that introduced a former registered office, prerequisite changes and the official fee.
The affected-document schedule, SR01 application, written fee and payment route, applicable registered-office or director service-address changes, supporting information and Companies House correspondence within the agreed scope.
A properly prepared and coordinated SR01 route, an appropriate current public-address arrangement where required, copies of the submitted material and a clear record of the outcome notified by Companies House.
Decision boundary: Coddan prepares and coordinates the work within the agreed service scope. Before submission, the individual reviews the completed application and document schedule, confirms their accuracy, makes the required declaration and signs the application. Companies House retains responsibility for eligibility, processing and the decision.
The immediate service route
Where the affected-document count or prerequisite address work has not already been established, the correct first action is a specific CLG SR01 scope check. This establishes the likely number of affected documents, any current-address work and the secure collection route before sensitive information is requested.
Use the consultation form to provide the CLG’s company number, your name and a short indication of whether the address appears as a registered office, SAIL, service address or in another filing. Do not enter the home address or attach identity documents.
Coddan confirms the preliminary record-review scope, identifies what sensitive material is actually required and issues the appropriate case-specific collection instructions. Sensitive material should not be supplied before those instructions are received.
After Coddan prepares the application, the individual reviews the SR01 and document schedule, confirms their accuracy and signs the required declaration. The written scope also confirms who makes the official payment and how the payment reference is returned to the case record.
The scope check remains available where the number of affected documents, the appropriate replacement address or the correct application route is uncertain.
A CLG can update its present address information without removing the former home address from documents already available through Companies House. The reverse is also important: an SR01 application cannot be used to leave an unsuitable home address in place as the company’s current registered office or SAIL, or as a serving officer’s current public service or correspondence address.
| Address position | What it means | Connected Coddan work |
|---|---|---|
| Registered office | The company’s official public address for statutory communications. It belongs to the CLG, not to an individual director. | If the home address is still current, Coddan coordinates an appropriate change before SR01 and can provide an applicable CLG registered-office service if selected. |
| SAIL | A public alternative inspection location for qualifying company records. It is separate from the registered office. | If the home address is the current SAIL, that position must be changed before SR01. This page coordinates the prerequisite only; it does not replace Coddan’s separate SAIL work. |
| Director service address | The public correspondence address for a serving director. It can differ from the confidential usual residential address. | Where necessary, Coddan coordinates a suitable replacement and can arrange an applicable director service-address service. |
| Usual residential address | The director’s home address supplied confidentially to Companies House. It is not the same field as the public service address. | Coddan distinguishes confidential residential data from a home address that has separately entered a public document, preventing an unnecessary or misdirected SR01 application. |
The visible address may appear because it was used in more than one capacity or repeated in several filings. Coddan checks the public filing history and separates each occurrence by the individual, document, date and purpose for which the address was supplied.
The important document is the original filing that introduced the home address as the registered office—not merely the later filing that replaced it.
The home address may be attached to a director or another eligible individual in historic appointment, incorporation or change documents.
The official list covers many document types, but not every public document can be suppressed. Mortgage documents are outside the ordinary SR01 suppression list.
If the address remains current as well as appearing historically, Coddan establishes the replacement route first and then prepares the historical suppression application.
The filing-history review converts a broad privacy concern into an identifiable professional task. It is also the control that prevents the application from listing the wrong document or missing a prerequisite change.
For a dissolved CLG: where the home address was used as the registered office, current official guidance requires a six-month wait from dissolution before the individual applies to remove it. A dissolved company does not require a new registered office or replacement service address solely for this SR01 route, but restoration is a separate destination if the company needs to resume legal existence.
Form SR01 is an application by an individual to remove specified personal details from eligible documents on the public Companies House register. On this page, the service is limited to the individual’s home address or part of it. It is not an application by the CLG to erase all address history.
Companies House currently charges £34 for each document listed. The charge is therefore determined by the number of eligible documents in the schedule—not by the number of companies, address lines or pages. Coddan’s review establishes the schedule before the official payment is made.
The official fee is separate from Coddan’s professional fee. Before the application is finalised, Coddan provides a written calculation showing the number of listed documents and the corresponding Companies House total.
The agreed service scope will state expressly whether the individual pays Companies House directly through GOV.UK Pay and supplies the payment reference to Coddan, or whether Coddan collects the stated official fee and coordinates payment on the individual’s behalf. The application will not be submitted without the required payment reference. No official fee is treated as included in Coddan’s professional charge unless the relevant package or written scope expressly says so.
The official fee is paid through GOV.UK Pay first. The payment reference is then included with the completed SR01. Companies House currently identifies email submission to its dedicated SR01 address as the quickest route; postal submission is also available.
Coddan prepares the individual’s application and affected-document schedule, obtains the individual’s review and signed declaration, coordinates the agreed payment and submission route and retains a service record. This is not described as an XML gateway or ordinary WebFiling submission.
The £34 figure is the Companies House fee current at the date this page was prepared. It is separate from Coddan’s professional fee and from any address-service charge, and should be reconfirmed when the scope is agreed.
Where the exposed home address remains active, the Participant chooses one of two practical arrangements. That choice is connected to SR01, but it does not change the page into an ordinary address-change service.
The Participant supplies a registered office or director service address that meets the applicable requirements. Coddan reviews its intended use and coordinates the necessary current-address filing before the SR01 submission.
Subject to service acceptance and the applicable terms, the Participant may select Coddan’s registered-office and/or director service-address service. Coddan then connects the address arrangement, current filing and SR01 work in the required order.
SAIL boundary: if the home address is the CLG’s current SAIL, that position must also be changed before SR01. Registering, changing and administering a SAIL and the records kept there remain a distinct company-secretarial workstream; this page includes only the prerequisite coordination agreed for the SR01 route.
A replacement address must be capable of performing its actual statutory function. It is not simply text inserted into a form. Coddan confirms which address service is being supplied, what official correspondence it covers and whether a continuing subscription is required.
The service does not stop when a form is sent. It follows the address from the visible public record through the prerequisite changes, application, Companies House response and continuing secretarial position.
1. Establish the record
Coddan confirms what is public, identifies the individual and establishes how the address was used in the CLG’s record.
2. Define the route
Coddan identifies the affected eligible documents and any registered-office, SAIL or service-address work that must be completed first.
3. Put the current address in order
The Participant’s own address or an accepted Coddan address service is connected to the appropriate current filing before SR01.
4. Prepare the application
Coddan prepares the document schedule and SR01, confirms the current fee calculation and sends the completed material to the individual for review.
5. Individual review and authority
The individual checks the application and schedule, confirms their accuracy and signs the required declaration. The official fee is then paid under the arrangement stated in the written scope and the payment reference is added.
6. Submit and follow the outcome
Coddan coordinates submission through the current official channel. Within the agreed scope, Coddan deals with enquiries or rejection points, records what was suppressed or replaced and confirms continuing address administration.
Companies House may accept the application, request more information or reject it where the form, payment reference, document selection, prerequisite address position or eligibility does not meet the applicable requirements. Coddan records the response and, where included in the agreed scope, prepares the appropriate reply or corrected submission.
For a current serving officer, the replacement public address is used where applicable. For a former officer, a dissolved company or a former registered office, Companies House may continue to show limited geographical information: the first half of a UK postcode, or the state or province and country for an overseas address.
Coddan checks the point against the application record and coordinates the response within scope. New documents, an omitted occurrence or a separate current-address defect may require additional work and a revised fee schedule.
A disputed filing, false-statement issue, fraud allegation, court question or protected-information case is moved to the appropriate corrective or professional destination rather than being forced through an ordinary SR01 application.
Outcome limitation: suppression at Companies House does not guarantee the disappearance of cached search results, archived copies or information already collected by independent third-party databases. Companies House may lawfully retain information and may make it available to authorised bodies even when it is no longer displayed on the public register.
A Company Limited by Guarantee has members or guarantors rather than share capital and shareholders merely because it is incorporated. The SR01 applicant is still the individual whose home address appears in an eligible document; the CLG context determines the surrounding records, authority, correspondence and continuing administration.
Coddan checks the directors, officers and filing history and ensures that a replacement company address continues to support official correspondence and the CLG’s records.
Removing an address from Companies House does not alter the charity’s separate regulatory, trustee, contact-address or record-keeping duties. Those requirements remain a distinct workstream.
An RTM, resident-management or other property CLG may need uninterrupted receipt of statutory, leasehold, contractor, member and property-management correspondence. The replacement address must fit that continuing function.
A community interest company limited by guarantee retains its CIC reporting, asset-lock and governance responsibilities. SR01 changes the public display of eligible personal information; it does not remove those obligations.
A CLG may have individual or corporate members and UK, overseas or mixed Participants. SR01 is nevertheless an individual application, so Coddan identifies the eligible person separately from the company’s membership structure.
Suppressing a historic address does not relocate records by itself. Coddan can establish what company records remain, where they are kept and which continuing registered-office, SAIL or secretarial service is required.
The immediate professional outcome is a coordinated current and historical address position. The continuing outcome is that official correspondence and company records remain properly administered after the SR01 decision.
No dedicated package or invented fixed price is applied to this page. Coddan first establishes the affected documents and prerequisite work, then separates the cost components so the Participant can see what is one-off and what continues.
Record review, document schedule, application preparation, prerequisite filing coordination, individual approval stage and the agreed response scope.
Currently £34 for each document listed in the SR01 application. The written scope identifies whether the individual pays directly or Coddan coordinates payment.
Any selected registered-office, director service-address or records service is priced separately with its service period and renewal basis stated.
Additional documents, Companies House enquiries, rejected applications, disputed filings or work outside the original scope are identified before further work proceeds.
Coddan can provide corresponding address-protection, filing and record-correction support for other UK companies and limited liability partnerships. This page remains specific to a CLG: its directors, members or guarantors, company records and continuing secretarial position.
A limited company by shares has shareholders, share capital and its own company records; an LLP has members, designated members and LLP forms. Until dedicated entity pages are available, Coddan’s general SR01 service page is the restrained destination for the wider UK-company route.
Coddan provides company-secretarial, address and corporate-administration work within the agreed scope. Its regulatory positions support distinct functions and must not be confused with the individual’s application or Companies House’s decision.
Coddan audits the filing history, prepares and coordinates the SR01 route, handles agreed current-address filings and administers selected address or record services.
Coddan is supervised by HM Revenue & Customs for anti-money-laundering purposes as a TCSP. The status can be checked in HMRC’s Supervised Business Register.
Coddan is registered with Companies House as an ACSP. Its published entry can be checked through the official list of ACSPs.
SR01 is the individual’s legal application. Companies House decides whether the application meets the requirements and controls processing, suppression and any request for further information.
HMRC supervision and Companies House registration are regulatory facts. They are not government endorsement, recommendation or a transfer of Companies House’s decision-making power to Coddan.
These Companies House and GOV.UK sources allow the Participant to verify the current form, eligible-document controls, fee and public-record effect without turning this service page into a substitute filing manual.
No. The application covers eligible documents identified in the schedule. Coddan reviews the document types and occurrences before preparing the application. Mortgage documents are not within the ordinary suppressible-document list.
If the home address remains the active registered office, the company must change it before the SR01 application. Coddan sequences the prerequisite filing and suppression work rather than treating them as one legal operation.
Companies House currently charges £34 for each document listed. The record audit establishes how many eligible documents contain the address and therefore controls the official fee.
Not in every case. Companies House may replace a serving officer’s public address with the supplied replacement, while in other circumstances it may continue to display limited geographical information. Independent archives, caches and third-party databases are outside the Companies House decision.
The applicant must be an individual whose home address appears in an eligible document. A member or guarantor may qualify because of a particular public filing, but membership by itself does not establish eligibility. Coddan checks the individual, document and address occurrence.
SR01 may still be available for eligible documents. If the home address was the registered office, the current guidance imposes a six-month wait after dissolution. If the company itself must return to the register, restoration is a separate service route.
Provide the company number, your name and a brief explanation of whether the home address appears as a former or current registered office, SAIL, director service address or in another known filing. Coddan will establish the apparent record-review scope, prerequisite address work and the next appropriate action.
Do not include the full home address or attach unredacted identity documents in the initial general enquiry. Coddan will confirm what information is required and the appropriate collection route after the scope has been established.
Request the initial CLG SR01 scope checkThe service scope, Coddan professional fee, current Companies House fee and any continuing address-service charge will be identified separately before the applicable work proceeds.
